Rhacklette About

We are Rhacklette: A group of female, inter, non-binary, trans and agender (FINTA) people in information security based in Switzerland.

Our goal is to create a protected space for gender minorities in the information security industry. We welcome everyone who identifies as FINTA and is interested in information security. This applies to professionals as well as students or career changers. We want to create a network based in Switzerland where FINTA people feel safe and understood. A community of like-minded people who learn together, share and build knowledge. A place where we can have fun together and meet other people who share the same passion.

Who’s behind Rhacklette?

We are a small group of organizers and work on a volunteer basis. Each of us has an intense day job, so we operate on enthusiasm, pragmatism and on best effort. This holds true whether it’s replies to your messages, events or our overall organization.

How can I contact you?

Reach out to us by email rhacklette/at\defcon-switzerland.org.

On social media find us on LinkedIn and X

What kind of events do you organize?

We operate locally and value face-to-face, in-person contact. For this, we meet up once a month for a monthly dinner in a restaurant in Zurich. This event is open to everyone who identifies as FINTA and who is interested in information security. Reach out to us for more details.

If you join Rhacklette, you are able to attend other events as well, such as workshops and trainings (remember: we operate on best effort). This includes any events by Rhacklette, but also activities by the DefCon Switzerland Chapter.

I identify as FINTA, how do I join?

Send us an email! You will then pay the yearly DefCon Switzerland membership fee and by this also become a member of Rhacklette.

I do not identify as FINTA, what can I do?

Join DefCon Switzerland anyway! The Chapter has lots of activities and some do not even need a membership, such as the regular Beer on Tuesday meet-ups across several locations in Switzerland. In addition, Rhacklette organizes a yearly dinner for all DefCon members (remember: best effort), where all DefCon Switzerland members are welcome!

What’s your origin story?

Previously we were known as WoSec Zurich and met up once a month for casual drinks and chats. Many of these original attendees are also part of Blackhoodie. In 2023 we essentially dissolved WoSec Zurich, regrouped as Rhacklette, kept the monthly dinners and joined the DefCon Switzerland Chapter (DC4131) as a subgroup.
